Paradigm Shift

Thursday Mar 28, 2024

Thursday Mar 28, 2024

We interview Damian Gerke, author of In the Way (How Church as we know it can be a discipleship movement again) and elder in 1`Body Church here in Tampa Bay. We process his story, moving from an engineer to a staff member at a large church to leading a church in his home and now coaching others to shift back to the original church paradigm: disciples making disciples. Let's recognize that "church as we know it," as much as we love it and appreciate the legacy, has some serious challenges when it comes to making disciples and multiplying. What would it look like to shift our thinking and our practices back to the way Jesus did things in the first place?

Priority 5: Church Planting

Tuesday Dec 19, 2023

Tuesday Dec 19, 2023

Today we welcome Pastor Darryl Williamson of Living Faith Bible Fellowship and Pastor Sam Phillips Jr. of Activation Church to talk about the why and how of church planting. This is not our last priority, but is a key strategic initiative alongside prayer, leader health, disciplemaking and city service. In fact, the multiplication of disciples and churches is the RESULT of everything else. At least it should be. Sam is setting the example by planting a church himself. Darryl is leading the way by developing a residency program to raise up church planters for the region. Listen in to be reminded of the importance of making disciples with simple, reproducible practices so they can go on to make more disciples that will be gathered together into new churches!

Special guest Brian Sanders, founder of the Tampa Underground, shares principles and vision for collaboration as an invitation for pastors to the January 9 Round Table. Guest Dan Claassen shares about foster care as a specific example of the potential for collaboration - identifying many "lanes" for individual Christians and churches to engage with the orphan in our city. In short, we all need to shift our thinking from organizational to movemental; from competition to collaboration.

Mike Kahn of the Tampa Bay Baptist Association joins Darin, Lucas and Austin to talk about the key priority of discipleship. What is a disciple? How do you know when you have made one? What are the key habits and skills of a disciple and a disciple-maker? Our conversation reveals that there are a number of conversions that many long time Christians and leaders need to walk through in order to effectively equip the saints to make disciples who make disciples.
